This past weekend was my birthday, so to celebrate I had my two favorite foods: pizza and cupcakes! I absolutely adore pizza and could eat it at any temperature at any time of the day! Urth Caffe was pretty busy on a Sunday afternoon in downtown L.A., but the wait was definitely worth it. I ordered the Catona Pizza so it had tomatoes, mozzarella, Burrata cheese, prosciutto di Parma basil and topped with fresh arugula.

Urth Caffe is known for their collection of organic tea and coffee and everything on their menu is very healthy and delicious. The tea was a great way to cool off because even though it is spring time in socal, it’s 85 degrees on a normal day! Afterwards, I went to Sprinkles cupcakes and picked up dark chocolate for myself, milk chocolate for my mom and peanut butter and carrot cake for my brother.

fresh new look for spring

I am getting better with winged eyeliner and my wings are looking more symmetrical each time! I always start my routine with the Olay Complete Moisturizer and the Covergirl Smoothers BB cream. The Physician’s Formula is great for my skin and evens out my complexion overall and is my favorite foundation. I used the Maybelline Nudes palette to create a smokey eye with the Falsies mascara and Baby Lips Crystal in Mirrored Mauve. I finished off my look with Ulta blush and bronzer.

I also got a new haircut with lots of layers so I rolled up my hair in the Goody body waves rollers and used the Big Sexy Hair root pump spray to add volume. When I woke up, I curled my hair using a one inch hot curler to define the ends and then used the TRESemme Tres Two Ultra Fine Mist hair spray. This natural beauty hair and makeup look is perfect for spring and you can dress it up or keep it casual which is great because it’s so versatile.

Yesterday, I had the most amazing lunch at Cafe Magazzino located in Toluca Lake nearby the WB studios in L.A. I ordered the Turkey and Arugula sandwich with the house salad and it was fresh, healthy, and very filling! I also ordered a latte, which was rich and frothy, to give me some energy for the Conan taping I attended later that afternoon.

The quaint cafe had a trendy and homey feel to the place and I had a tasting of the zucchini soup which I will order next time I come! The overall ambiance was enjoyable and it was fun people watching because everyone who went there worked at the studios nearby.

I really enjoyed going to Conan since I am a big fan of the show and I even got to sit in the front row and the staff gave the audience candy so that was a fun added bonus. The guests were Keith Urban and Ludacris and the live jazz band was lively and entertaining! I had a great day overall and am ready to take on the rest of the year.

Positive Vibes

With my classes going into overdrive and everything coming together I have been overwhelmed with anxiety. Some days I felt like I was just going through the motions and not realizing how lucky I am to be able to study a subject at a school I love. I think its important to take a moment to write down things that make me happy because it makes me more appreciate of what I have and most importantly the amazing people I’ve met these past four years. These things on the list mean the most to me because they instantly make me happy, and even just thinking about it I get excited.

It feels refreshing to be able to stop and smell the roses because college just flew by and now I want to remember and cherish every moment from now on. There are so many little things in life that are vital to happiness and my well-being and this stationary list is the perfect reminder to keep my head up! I am also going to an Andy Grammer concert with special guests Alex and Sierra with my best friend in a couple of weeks and I am so stoked. Music is always an instant mood lifter and this song is a classic with it’s upbeat tempo and positive message.

Kickback Jack’s formally known as the BC Cafe is located on South Indian Hill Boulevard. I passed by it many times on my way to get 21 Choices and I am glad that I got a chance to enjoy the deliciousness. I ordered 2 Super Jack blueberry pancakes and they were everything I wanted and didn’t know I needed in my life. Fluffy, sweet, and just the right texture of crispiness on the edges, it sent my taste buds to heaven. In fact, I was so hungry I forgot to take a picture because I was too busy devouring the flapjacks!

Breakfast food is amazing. There really is no other way to put it and it brings me joy, especially since my schedule has been so crazy busy and I haven’t had time to cook a proper meal and sit down and savor it. I looked up the local eatery in Claremont that got rave reviews on Yelp (4/5) and I think it is my new favorite diner. As I was scrolling through my dash on Tumblr, I saw this picture and it described my motto for the next couple of weeks! I officially applied for graduation so everything is starting to feel like it’s falling into place.

It’s that time of the year again for chocolate, sweets and red roses! I have mixed feelings about Valentine’s Day because shouldn’t every day be like Valentine’s Day? I think it’s so important to remind those who you love with small gestures because the little things mean the most. My favorite part when I was younger was always making cards for my friends and family and overloading on my chocolate intake. Now, I love overloading on lip wear, especially since I’m always on the go and don’t have time to get all dolled up for class and work in the morning.

Burt’s Bee’s tinted chap stick is another of my all time favorites for lip wear because it has just enough color to achieve that natural beauty look. Ulta has a great lip balm that is hydrating and glossy and Maybelline’s Baby Lips is ideal for a long lasting pink pout. Looking good also corresponds with feeling good and a flirty fragrance that I really enjoy wearing is Victoria’s Secret Noir Tease because it is light, fresh, and smells amazing. Of course, there is nothing like the classic red lip for going out on Valentine’s Day!

Roll With It

I got buns, hun

There is something so therapeutic about baking and it has been a favorite pastime of mine since I was little. After a rough week of midterms, I wanted to treat myself with a special breakfast. I found this recipe on Pinterest and I really enjoyed making this sweet treat! My apartment smelled amazing when this was baking in the oven and I loved the delicious aroma.

       

I have been so busy this quarter and now that I started my internship it’s been really important to make time for myself and do things that recharge my batteries. I am looking forward to lounging around all weekend and painting my nails and most importantly reading for fun while eating my cinnamon rolls!

In a Blink of an Eye

Finding new things to explore and creating fresh ideas are two of my biggest passions that can be seen through my love of cooking, traveling and makeup. I love watching YouTube tutorials on makeup and hair because I always feel inspired to try other things in life as well! Today, I watched Zoella’s top knot tutorial and tried doing my own smokey eye inspired by the mocha color of coffee. Drugstore makeup is a guilty pleasure of mine because it’s so affordable and there are always new brands to try! Urban Decay is known for their Naked makeup pallet, but on my college student budget the Maybelline Nudes eye shadow and Falsies Mascara are within my price range.

I have also been experimenting with winged eyeliner! I got the L’Oreal Paris Lineur Intense Felt Tip Eyeliner and have been trying to perfect my technique. I don’t usually wear top eyeliner, but this is a new year and I wanted to try it! I really love how fun makeup is and there are so many ways to mix the color pallet and it allows my creative side to shine through. This quarter has flown by and next week it will be halfway done! I am counting down the days and in the meantime, I will be working on my winged eyeliner technique so I can have the perfect cap and gown selfie!

Better Latte Than Never

can’t believe January is almost over!

So I definitely failed one of New Years resolutions because I was supposed to be updating every week! I apologize school has been really crazy, but I will try to post consistently.

Anyway, with one week left in January I have finally put up my coffee calendar. I always go clearance shopping with my bestie and when I saw this I knew I had to have it. I am looking forward to everything in 2015 and this year has already been loads better than the last. I am so thankful for all the opportunities coming my way and this calendar will be a fun way to watch time pass.

I am super excited because after 3 weeks I finally got the internship that I have been wanting and hoping for! I will be doing publicity for the music department at school and I can’t wait. This has been such a long process and I am so thankful everything has worked out for the best.

My classes this quarter are challenging, but fun and this is the last winter quarter of my college career! After this, I can sign up for yoga and find my inner peace before graduation.

I think my favorite gift this year has definitely been this pair of shoes! I think wedges just dress up any outfit and the suede texture is ideal for winter. I love how this shoe can be casual because of the laces, but also the four inch heel makes it classy and dressy.

I can never uphold my new years resolution, but I think this year is especially important since I am graduating from college and I want to savor every moment! So for 2015 I will try to live in the present and just take each day as it is. I think new shoes are like a new year because you get a fresh start and everywhere you go, you carry all the memories you did in them! Or maybe I am just emotionally attached to inanimate objects. Either way here’s to a happy, healthy 2015!
